RE: Interesting
I don't think a simple remaster of MAG is good enough to bring it back to relevance. It would have to be a remaster and expansion.

Remember, the player count steadily dropped post Escalation. The game really failed to support a long term community, especially with the decision to not include any way to facilitate clan battles. Before the servers went down, there was that period where you could only play Sabo at certain times of the day.

I'm convinced multiplayer games don't have longevity unless there is a steady trickle of support and significant attention to community involvement. Imagine how different the game would be if they had made a push for players to form clans more, and make some sort of competitive match making. Even for bragging rights, a competitive clan leaderboard would have brought some return value to the game. That, and just playing the same 3 maps over and over and over again, it got stale. Eventually you had seen everything the game had to offer.

But then again, we also heard talk of how, the PS4 was running into memory issues at the point where you had 256 players with unique memory footprints. Adding another unique gun, for example, is extremely memory expensive, but once that is done, the replication of it is cheaper.

I think MAG had the best run it could have had, for who was developing it, and on what console. I just wish someone would see it's current potential and go further, but its one of those "dustbin of history" things. Few people remember it.

You mean PS3 was running into issues surely as what we want is a remaster on PS4!
